Moon enters Scorpio 11:05 am CDT
June 2—Gibbous Moon: Budding
This phase of the Moon anticipates the release of the full Moon. This is the phase of building momentum, fine tuning, and perfecting. This is the phase of preparation. Breathe into the anticipation you may be feeling right now. Can you allow curiosity to soften any anxiety you are feeling about getting it right? The myth is that we are alone. We are one breathing animal among many who are breathing into this potent moment.
This forecast is dedicated to the struggle for Black liberation. This forecast is in honor of the Black people who are putting their bodies on the line for justice. I am taking a breath into the gravity of obligation that White people have incurred. I have incurred. As I breathe to drop my shoulders and feel more rooted in the Earth, I am not letting go of this obligation.
I am writing with a suggestion for magic to help us in our struggles for liberation and repair. In this preparation phase of the Moon, we can get ready for the potent energy of the full Moon (June 5), which will be a lunar eclipse in Sagittarius. The nodes of the Moon are the indicators of what an eclipse is about. This eclipse occurs near the south Node. The Sun will be near the north Node. In the simplest terms, the south node represents repair, the north node represents liberation. There is a story about the nodes that relates to this moment of struggle. The nodes move through the zodiac. They spend 19 months in a pair of signs. Recently, the nodes moved from Cancer/Capricorn to Gemini/Sagittarius. We are wrapping up the liberation/repair work of Cancer/Capricorn even as we move into the liberation/repair work of Gemini/Sagittarius. This is a little complicated, but bear with me. This is part of the magic over the next two months. This lunar eclipse is the first of three eclipses in a row; June 5-lunar eclipse in Sagittarius south node, June 21-solar eclipse 0 degrees Cancer north node, July 4-lunar eclipse Capricorn south node. There are two eclipses of repair and one of liberation.
I am calling on White people to do magic of repair at the June 5 and July 4 lunar eclipses. For June 5 the repair is around the stories we feed and have believed to be true. For July 4 the repair is around the foundations of colonization and supremacy (Capricorn repair). To be clear, people who have Sagittarius and Capricorn in their charts are not the bad people. Those people may be feeling these evolutionary times more significantly, but all White people need to do this repair work.
Looking at the chart for the full Moon, Mars in Pisces, along with Neptune in Pisces play a big role. Mars is the warrior, Neptune is the hypnotist. White people are in a trance. Sometimes this confuses what we fight for, sometimes it enhances the ways we fight for the wrong things, and the ways we can be manipulated by the stories. It is important to investigate who is telling the stories and why. In a confusing but potent time for change, we can tell new stories and begin the work of repair. Sagittarius governs our beliefs. The intention for the magic: to be willing to repair our stories and to protect us from manipulation from the stories of oppression. Stories are powerful. Beliefs seed reality. Changing the story changes the world. A spell is a prayer and prayer only works if we are willing to back it up with action. Thoughts and beliefs move quickly. White people may try to “perfect” our thoughts before we act. Under this gibbous phase of the Moon, can we breathe into that urgency and make this change, instead: Slow down. White people can’t get faster than our thoughts but we can get used to backing up and saying we were wrong. The practice of noticing we are wrong and saying so is a powerful spell of repair.
How will you support this spell at the full Moon? The technique of magic is less important than the intent. What practice helps you transform? Do that.
The full Moon on July 4 is another potent eclipse for repair—the birthday of the United States. This country was founded on oppression. Capricorn repair work seeks to dismantle these foundations. The police are one pillar in this system. We have been fed a story that we need the police, that civilization is dependent on it. That is a myth. For this spell work, educate yourself about police abolition, imagine the thriving systems of support that we can create to replace the police, make plans to not call the police when you need support, and contribute to groups who are working for police abolition.

The solar eclipse on the Summer Solstice (June 21) occurs at the very beginning of Cancer, a powerful cardinal degree. The north node alignment of this eclipse points us to the ways we are growing. Cancer liberation involves the way we care for each other. Cancer liberation involves the way we remember our ancestors who have cared for us. Cancer liberation is centered in hearth and home and nurturance. White people often constrict around the issues of safety. The magic of this liberation involves opening and allowing and honoring Black peoples’ families and homes. We cannot change the world until we care. Can we grow towards care?
Each phase of the Moon lasts 3 ½ days. Each phase is a new stage of development from seed to compost. Each phase is a time to reflect on our intentions and experiences that challenge and support those intentions. What we think we are planting becomes something different than expected. Along with the Moon, we wax and wane and wax again, a spiral of living and dying that does not end
